Hope for Tomorrow. 2005 Dental/Medical Mission to Da Nang, Vietnam

2005, Da Nang, Vietnam. First Hope for Tomorrow Medical/Dental Mission

It started with gratitude.

In 2005, a small group of friends in Rockville, Maryland decided that the generosity they had received in their adopted homeland deserved to be paid forward. They pooled their time, their skills, and their networks — and Hope for Tomorrow was born.

Two decades later, that founding circle has grown into a community of over 200 volunteers serving disadvantaged populations from the streets of Washington, D.C., to the highlands of Vietnam. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we are 100% volunteer-managed and operated. No salaries. No overhead bloat. Just people showing up for people.

Our mission is straightforward: deliver healthcare, human services, infrastructure, and education to communities the system has overlooked. We do that through six active programs:

  • International Medical & Dental Missions — Volunteer professionals delivering free care in underserved regions.
  • Domestic Dental Clinics — Free dental services across the D.C. metropolitan area.
  • Infrastructure Projects — Footbridges, care homes, and shelters like the Mai Tam Center, Gary House, and House of Compassion.
  • Educational Assistance — Scholarships, supplies, and mentorship for children in poverty.
  • Human Services — Direct support for veterans, the elderly, and families in crisis.
  • Special Projects — Rapid-response relief when disaster strikes, from typhoons to refugee crises.

Hope. Love. Care. — three words that have guided every mission since 2005.
