Our Story

Hope For Tomorrow: Empowering Communities Through Compassion

Founded in 2005 by a small group of friends in Rockville, Maryland, Hope For Tomorrow (HFT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization driven entirely by volunteers. Inspired by the generosity they received in their adopted homeland, these individuals committed themselves to giving back—both locally and globally. Today, HFT has grown into a vibrant network of over 200 volunteers, united by the mission to provide healthcare, human services, infrastructure development, and educational assistance to disadvantaged communities.

At the heart of HFT’s work are its International Dental & Medical Missions, which send teams of volunteer professionals to underserved regions to deliver free medical and dental care. These missions not only address urgent health needs but also promote long-term wellness through education and preventive services. Domestically, HFT hosts Free Dental Clinics across the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, partnering with local governments and nonprofits to serve those without access to basic dental care hftusa.org.

HFT’s commitment to infrastructure build-outs is evident in projects like the Mai Tam Center in Saigon, Vietnam, a sanctuary for children and mothers living with HIV/AIDS. The organization also supports the Gary House, modeled after the Ronald McDonald House, which provides lodging for cancer patients undergoing treatment, as well as the House of Compassion, a refuge for veterans and vulnerable individuals.

In addition to healthcare and housing, HFT invests in education, offering scholarships, school supplies, and mentorship to children in impoverished areas. These efforts aim to break the cycle of poverty and empower the next generation of leaders.

HFT also responds to global crises with agility and heart. The organization has provided over $150,000 in COVID-19 relief and $400,000+ in typhoon aid to Vietnam, donated $8,000 to support California wildfire first responders, and contributed $50,000 to assist Ukrainian refugees.

Guided by the motto HOPE, LOVE, & CARE, Hope For Tomorrow continues to uplift lives, build bridges—literally and figuratively—and inspire lasting change. Through compassion, collaboration, and unwavering dedication, HFT demonstrates that even small groups can have a profound global impact.
